27 October 2023 News On October 20 in Moscow, Nazary Skrypnik, Head of the Federal Accreditation Service, and Osama Amir Fadel, Deputy Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies of the United Arab Emirates (MoIAT), signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of accreditation of Halal certification bodies. The document provides for the UAE to recognize Russian Halal certificates after the introduction of an accreditation scheme for Halal certification bodies in the national accreditation system, including taking into account GSO standards. This in turn will reduce technical barriers and facilitate bilateral trade between the UAE and Russia in relation to Halal products. "The memorandum will be the basis for further close cooperation on recognizing the accreditation of Russian Halal certification bodies. The Halal sphere is important for both the domestic market and exports. It is fundamentally important for us to reduce trade barriers between our countries", - said Nazary Skrypnyk. The signing ceremony was attended by Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Omar Suwayna Al Suwaidi, First Deputy Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies of the United Arab Emirates, as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Russia and Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the United Arab Emirates. The UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) was established in July 2020 to promote industrial development and increase exports of products.
